Initial situation & task
Schwingshandl realised a complete pallet conveyor system including control system, lifter and dispatch connection for a well-known food producer in Austria that produces finished goods (e.g. dumplings) as part of a new building project.
The challenge was to transport palletised finished goods with a payload of up to 1,000 kg safely, flexibly and automatically over two floors and between several loading and unloading stations.
Realisation
The pallets are loaded onto feed roller conveyors by forklift and buffered on the conveyor line. The destination station is defined via a touch panel on the control desk.
Vertical transport between the levels takes place via a chain lifter, which is used both for outgoing goods and for return storage and incoming goods. The rest of the conveyor flow is distributed to parallel discharge roller conveyors via a transfer unit.
During the transfer, the pallet contour is checked and the goods are only automatically transported onwards if the result is correct. The control and visualisation of the system were implemented entirely by Schwingshandl.
Components used
- Pallet lifter with chain hoist and safety gear
- Feeding roller conveyor with impact protection, roller conveyor
- Sliding unit
- Cladding and access concept
- Cabling, control and visualisation (Siemens Simatic S7)
Added value
- Safe and efficient pallet logistics across multiple levels
- Flexible target selection and process control
- Compact, clear system structure
- Reliable control and high process reliability
This video provides insight into part of the overall system and does not show all areas and functions in detail.
