Upper Austrian specialist in customized intralogistics posts growth of more than 15% – further investments in site expansion and workforce planned
Holzhausen, April 29, 2026 – When international logistics projects become particularly complex, a company from Upper Austria is often called upon: Schwingshandl automation technology GmbH. Since its foundation in 2003, the company has pursued a clear strategic focus—developing highly customized systems for demanding requirements instead of standard solutions. “Engineered and Made in Austria”, Schwingshandl’s intralogistics solutions are deployed by customers around the world. “
We deliver customized solutions for the most complex challenges and support our customers throughout the entire project lifecycle. Our work begins where standard solutions reach their limits. This combination of innovation, reliability and uncompromising quality is what makes us the preferred partner for leading international general contractors,” says Markus Sturm, CEO of Schwingshandl automation technology GmbH.
Above-Average Growth in a Dynamic Market
The company’s consistent specialization and positioning as a global niche champion are reflected in its financial performance. In fiscal year 2025, Schwingshandl generated revenues of approximately EUR 52 million, representing growth of around 15 percent year-on-year. Order intake totaled roughly EUR 60 million.
“The intralogistics market grows by around six to eight percent annually. The fact that we significantly outperform this rate while remaining sustainably profitable clearly validates our strategic course,” says Sturm.

For the current fiscal year, Schwingshandl expects this positive trend to continue. In 2026, revenues are projected to reach EUR 55 to 60 million, while order intake is expected to increase to approximately EUR 70 million.
Australia Emerges as Strongest Market Outside the EU
International business development remains a key growth driver. In particular, the Australian market has shown strong momentum, accounting for around 20 percent of order intake in 2025 and becoming one of the company’s most important individual markets.
In Melbourne, Schwingshandl is currently executing one of the largest projects in the company’s history. For one of the most advanced grocery distribution centers, the company is supplying customized intralogistics subsystems.
“We continue to see strong demand from Australia this year. Together with our partners, we are working on several highly exciting projects in the region,” Sturm explains.
Overall, Schwingshandl’s 2025 revenue was geographically distributed across approximately 60 percent Europe, around 15 percent North America, and about 25 percent other international markets.
Investments in Austria as a Clear Signal for the Future
In parallel with its growth trajectory, Schwingshandl is making targeted investments in expanding its Holzhausen headquarters. Construction of a new office building is currently underway and scheduled for completion in September 2026, creating space for approximately 60 additional jobs. This will be followed directly by an expansion of the production hall, expected to increase capacity by 50 percent. “Especially against the backdrop of challenging economic conditions, we see these investments as a deliberate signal for the future and a clear commitment to our Upper Austrian headquarters,” says Sturm.

Schwingshandl is increasingly establishing itself as a key employer in the region. The workforce has grown steadily in recent years: the company currently employs around 140 people, with plans to increase headcount to approximately 155 employees by the end of 2026. The company focuses on a highly qualified team, long-term employee retention and diverse development opportunities in an international environment. “Our growth is not a short-term effect, but the result of a clear strategy, a highly committed team and a very solid financial foundation. On this basis, we are further advancing the internationalization of our company, selectively expanding our after-sales portfolio and consistently investing in the growth of our team and infrastructure,” Sturm emphasizes.
Internationally Successful, Regionally Rooted
Schwingshandl represents a new generation of industrial companies—highly specialized, globally active and at the same time deeply rooted in their home region. Despite its international footprint, the company places strong emphasis on regional partnerships. A significant share of suppliers and service providers comes from Upper Austria and the surrounding area, ensuring that a substantial part of value creation remains within the region.
Sustainability is firmly embedded in the company’s strategy. Energy-efficient production processes, resource-efficient operations and certified management systems in accordance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 underline Schwingshandl’s commitment to responsible and future-oriented business practices.
